Leena Bakshi

Leena Bakshi is one of the science curriculum coordinators for the Integrated Middle School Science Partnership at the Alameda County Office of Education.

Leena began her teaching career in 2006 at Albany Unified School District. She then worked in southern California at middle schools and high schools in San Bernardino and Los Angeles County undergoing Program Improvement. She has served as the chair of the mathematics department, lesson study facilitator, and instructional coach at the school and district levels.

Upon Leena's return to the Bay Area, she worked in curriculum development at Summit Public Schools Charter, FLEX program development with continuation students in Albany, and now working with curriculum development in STEM. Her goals for the IMSS are to design rigorous, engaging, and hands-on lessons that can be implemented nation-wide by all middle school science teachers using the Next Generation Science Standards.

She earned her B.A. degree in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley, her Masters of Arts in Education from Claremont Graduate University, and is currently working on her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. Leena is completing her dissertation on The Successful Implementation of STEM Initiatives in Lower Income Schools. She has researched schools spanning all across the state of California.
